        about elements5design

What you see is what you get, which means i am not a large web design company with
extra employees and a big budget. You will be working directly with me. The seed of Elements5design was planted in the Fall of 2008, strictly as a (passionate) hobby. In time, and after much push from peers, I launched the business in early 2011.

        integrity. trust. honesty.
To me, creating an open & honest relationship with my clients is first on my list. To be effective in what I do and what I can do for you,  communication is a major part of it.
My native East Coast work ethics usually involve a rapidly deep dive into my projects, however, I chose to be a one person biz so that my clients & myself wouldn't be just another 'number'.  Building a relationship from honesty & trust are key elements for maintaining integrity... as a business and in my life.

projects are on a first come first serve basis
All project are reviewed prior to our first consultation. My availability changes week to week, depending on the amount of projects on my desk. I will send you an email immediately upon receiving your "Get Started" form if I am not available at the time & the expected date of when I will be. I have a list of designers who I know personally and who I highly recommend too, if I am not available.

        it's in the name

        Picture
I wanted a name to encompass all aspects
of life…. something that was neutral and natural yet flexible and yielding to change
and growth. A name that would represent
the endless possibilities of designing and
        a reflection of my ever-evolving
        creative endeavors.

        Elements5Design was inspired by the
        alchemical process of the
        Chinese 5 elements "creation cycle"

        in nature:
        Wood > Fire > Earth > Metal > Water
        Green > Red > Brown > White > Black

Each page represents each of the
five elements in the proper order.

        behind the logo

        Picture
The Nautilus shell displays the phi ratio
other wise known as the "Golden Mean".
The Golden Mean, for centuries, has
been known to have a mathematical consistency found in the blue prints of nearly all things (animate & inanimate).

I chose this to symbolize the rhythm of nature and it's endless organic processes.

        about janice

        Picture
I was born with a creative drive.
As long as I can remember I have always been encapsulated by the richness of colors, the layers of contrast, the texture of fabrics, the playing of words and all the space in between. My background in art (and music) education started at a very early age, onto secondary schooling in the creative arts (painting, piano, photography & writing) eventually working for a large information technology company, allowing me to rub elbows with very high internet and design professionals.

My canvas has evolved with time, but the fire that fuels my passion to create hasn’t. If anything, it is continuously growing and I am always looking for ways to nurture and feed it.
My inescapable curiosity with web designing didn’t ignite until I left the corporate world. For the last three years I spent countless hours buried wide-eyed behind HTML coding, CSS, Web Designing, Photoshop books, logging twice as many hours infront of the computer... eventually offering my services for free or at a minimal charge to friends, simply so I could learn through experience.

I find my work absolutely freeing & enjoy all the creative parts to it.
I look forward to helping you bring YOUR visions out into the world!
